Chocolate Rush: Max Brenner Part 2

They say dark chocolate is good for you - it's full of antioxidants and rich in nutrients like fiber, iron, and zinc. Well if that's true then I just had the most nutritious dessert ever!

Many of you may remember my original post featuring this marshmallow chocolate pizza from Max Brenner. I'm sure I needn't explain further why I went back for another trip to a restaurant that serves marshmallow pizza!

This time around, we ordered the impossibly delicious (and a little bit adventurous) Classic European Fondue for Two. This dessert came with fresh bananas & strawberries, not to mention sweet chocolate chunk cookies, marshmallows and chocolate sponge cake. They even set up a tiny tabletop bonfire and gave us metal prongs to toast the marshmallows! It was so fun to light each fluffy sugar pillow on fire, blow it out, and dunk it in the chocolate sauces! Now about those sauces...

This plate came with the option of dipping in a choice of two towers of melted chocolate (milk, dark or white). Even these sauce towers were so darling, and each one had a little flame at the bottom to keep their contents melted. We ordered the dark and white chocolate dipping sauces, and a toffee sauce was brought over as well!

My favorite was the dark chocolate by far. Ever since I started eating dark chocolate, I haven't had much of a taste for milk chocolate. I still like white chocolate too, but it seems to be more rare and not quite as nutritious.

So there you have our super nutritious dessert! I already can't wait to go back and see what other goodies they have to try!

Deep Ellum Boston: Part 2

Deep Ellum Boston

Some of you may remember my first post on Deep Ellum from last summer. I've been back twice since then, and I just had to gush about them again. I mean, just look at that burrito!

Deep Ellum Boston

To start, we ordered these heavenly Deviled Eggs. I never saw myself as a fan of deviled eggs, but then I realized I haven't tried them in about 10 years so it was time to give them another shot!

These bad boys change daily, and the special on this particular day was ouzo and ginger. It was such a great combination of flavors - a little bitter, a little kick, all against the sturdy, smooth flavor of the egg itself. And the presentation was so pleasing, which adds to the experience that much more. So, now I like deviled eggs! You really do learn something new every day.

Deep Ellum Boston

Deep Ellum Boston

I ordered the Deep Ellum Breakfast Burrito. You can just tell looking at it that you're in for a treat!

Deep Ellum Boston

The breakfast burrito was, if you could believe it, even better than it looks! It comes complete with scrambled eggs, house-made chorizo, salsa verde, Longhorn cheese, crema, and potatos. This is not only the biggest, but the best breakfast burrito I've ever had. It's packed with a flurry of flavors and hearty ingredients - perfect to warm you up in this snowy season!

Deep Ellum Boston

Another great dish was the Reuben Sandwich, which was served with corned beef, Swiss cheese, Russian dressing, marble rye, slaw and fries. I love the sweet flavor of corned beef, and it's just made perfectly here.

We've never been disappointed by Deep Ellum. It's got this great trendy/hipster atmosphere, and every single time we come to eat here, we are blown away by the dishes we're served. It's one of those places you definitely go out of your way to get to!

Rocksbox Shine

Rocksbox Review

Rocksbox really outdid itself this month! I always look forward to opening their little boxes of gems, and this time I was blown away.

*Special Note* I'm so excited to be teaming up with Rocksbox for the next 30 days to give you all a month of free Rocksbox! Just use code chelseaxoxo2 when you sign up!

As many of you know, Rocksbox is this cool service that sends you 3 pieces of high-end jewelry to rent each month. This month, I got a special "shine" necklace to keep! Little touches like this go a long way with me, and I love the positive shine message.

Rocksbox Review

This Alexa Necklace by Urban Gem was a stunner, with it's fun shades of teal and amethyst, but probably wasn't something I would pick out for myself. Nonetheless, to rent it for a month and pair it with various outfits was super fun.

How sweet are these Perry Street Gween Crystal Studs? They look like little angels, and I loved how they shimmered and sparkled in the light.

This bracelet was my favorite piece of this month's Rocksbox. This Vista Cuff by Gorjana is so unique and fun. I would have been tempted to buy it for myself if my bank account wasn't still reeling from the holidays! It reminded me of a high-end, golden tribute to Charlie Brown. I also loved how it was flexible and adjustable to different arm sizes, so it fit nice and snug.

Lunchpad Lunch in San Francisco

Lunchpad San Francisco

While in San Francisco for the holidays, we explored one of the cutest local neighborhoods for boutiques and restaurants: Hayes Valley. We stopped in for lunch at Lunchpad, and were pretty impressed!

Lunchpad San Francisco

Loved this long wooden feasting table and winter decorations!

Lunchpad San Francisco

I ordered The Teamster sandwich, which came packed with roasted turkey, pastrami, swiss, dijon slaw, garlic aioli and grandpa's pickles. Something in it was super spicy - maybe the dijon slaw - but despite my aversion to strong spiciness, the sandwich was so amazingly delicious that I devoured the whole thing anyway! Also, grandpa's pickles are the most scrumptious pickles I've had in a while - and I love pickles!

The furniture gives away Lunchpad's nighttime transformation into a club called Noir Lounge. I'll have to come back and see it at night sometime!

Sunday Brunch at The Trophy Room

the trophy room boston

It's no secret - I love brunch! From sweet french toast to savory egg dishes and breakfast burritos, there's no better way to catch up and treat yourself to some good grub before the workweek begins.

The other day, I met up with the lovely Kat from Love and Ace for brunch at The Trophy Room. As you can see in our table setup above, they have no shortage of breakfast and brunch options!

the trophy room boston

I ordered the Trophy Omelette, which was served with breakfast potatoes, toast, and a choice of three ingredients: bacon, ham, sausage, onion, tomato, spinach, mushrooms, bell peppers, american, swiss, and cheddar. I chose spinach, bacon, and tomato.

There was nothing wrong with the meal or the service, but it wasn't mind-blowing either. It was a good meal, and I'd recommend stopping in if you're in the area, but no need to go out of your way to come here.

I prefer venues like Mike & Patty's and Barcelona. These restaurants make you really sit back in awe after taking a bite of their dishes. I love that feeling, when you know they just gave you a meal you wouldn't have been able to make for yourself at home. To me, that's the marker of a great restaurant, and worth going back to!

So Cozy in So Olivia Jackets

So Olivia Jackets

As you can tell from my recent Durango leather jacket post, I'm all about switching up the jackets this winter! And that means not only the outerwear jackets, but the dusters and cardigans as well.

So Olivia Jackets

Naturally, I was over-the-moon to team up with So Olivia Boutique to bring you two adorable jackets this season! These long, lightweight sweaters are perfect for staying cozy while lounging around the house, or quickly running outside to frolic in the snow like I do!

So Olivia Jackets

First off, I really adore this neutral gray High-Low Cardigan. The gray shade means you can pair it with almost anything, like this ethereal dress from Macy*s, black tights, and camel heels.

The cardigan itself is unbelievably soft, and even has a little hood in case some snowflakes start to fall. The high-low design allows the wearer to easily wrap it around themselves for an added cozy factor!

My second look is sporting this oh-so-cozy Fuzzy Open Knit Cardigan! It doesn't get more comfortable than this super long duster. It's ultra soft and form-fitting, and it's taupe color allows it to match just about any outfit.

I am beyond happy curled up in this jacket with a good book, watching the snowflakes slowly drift down outside!

Though these cardigans are cozy enough for lounging at home in the winter, they're versatile enough to be worn outside when the weather starts to get warmer too. I just know when spring and summer rolls around, I'll be wearing them out to grab brunch every weekend!

Blue Barn Lunch in San Francisco

Blue Barn San Francisco

While home in San Francisco for the holidays, I met up with some fellow UCLA Bruins to watch the bowl game. Luckily we got there a little early so we could stop into the always delectable Blue Barn for a quick lunch.

Blue Barn San Francisco

Blue Barn specializes in exceptionally fresh salads and sandwiches. I opted for the Masala Sandwich,  which consisted of curried chicken-apple salad, almonds, dried cranberries, cucumber, red onion & sprouts on seeded whole wheat. It was seriously one of the best sandwiches I've ever had!

Blue Barn San Francisco

My friend got the scrumptious Poke Salad, which as you can see came in a generous portion. Blue Barn is such a great example of the healthy menus and quality ingredients that San Francisco is known so well for. And the UCLA Bruins won the bowl, by the way!

Atlantic Fish Company & Chevy Equinox

Atlantic Fish Company Boston

I'm a huge proponent of the importance of girl time, and what's better girl time than a Saturday brunch?? This particular brunch sesh took place at Boston's Atlantic Fish Company.

AFC has stellar yelp reviews, so I was expecting to be blown away. Unfortunately I was underwhelmed. Right off the bat, they seated us under an air duct that was shooting cold air directly onto me. Coming in off the cold Boston streets, this felt unacceptable to me. I requested a new table, and the waiter suggested that I just trade places with my friend. But then the cold air would be blown onto her? Finally, they allowed us to move to a warmer table.

AFC did score points with me when it came to their bread selection. While most restaurants will just give you a simple roll and call it a day, we were given a variety of carb options to choose from, including bread with pieces of mango and raspberries.

Atlantic Fish Company Boston

We ordered a half dozen oysters to start, and requested 2 Duxbury, 2 Wellfleets, and said to surprise us with the other 2. The person who brought out the platter wasn't our waiter, and said we got 3 of one kind, 3 of another kind, neither of which were the 2 oysters we requested. When we spoke up, he basically said he didn't know what to tell us. Weird! We later found out that 3 of them were in fact Duxbury, but the whole situation was just odd and a bit unprofessional.

Atlantic Fish Company Boston

I am such a sucker for eggs benedict, I had to try their Lobster Benedict, which was listed as coming with fresh fruit, home fries, and traditional Canadian bacon. The bacon never showed itself, but the eggs were nice and runny and the lobster was fresh. The home fries were seasoned well but could have used a bit more salt.

We still had a great brunch and quality catch up time, but it seemed to be more in spite of the service here, rather than thanks to it. I enjoyed my entree and our bread, but the service and oysters left something to be desired.

The good news is that I was lucky enough to team up with GM to test drive this pretty new Chevy Equinox!

I seriously loved driving this car. It was an impossibly smooth ride, even in the rain, and it felt so safe and sturdy. I also really appreciated its rear-view camera while parallel parking. Luckily I was able to take it for a spin to a few other brunch places, so stay tuned to read all about them!

Kushyfoot: A Winter's Tale

Kushyfoot
Tights: Kushyfoot | Dress: Target | Shoes: JustFab.com
I have a love-hate relationship with winter. I love breathing in the crisp, fresh air, and love the feel and sound of the crunch of the snow under my feet. But the bitter cold that comes whipping through the air this time of year isn't quite as fun!

My solution? Tights, every day.

So naturally, Kushyfoot is my best friend this winter. They offer these amazing fleece-lined tights that keep you all warm and bundled up, while still being stylish. On top of that, the fleece is the softest thing ever. It feels like you're stepping into a cloud, and surrounded by cute little soft puppies! Seriously, it feels like that.

Flats: Kushyfoot | Heels: Target

(Pssst! Can you tell how much I love Target? I'm almost always wearing at least one item from tar-jey at any given moment!) These Kushyfoot "flats to go" are my second favorite piece from their collection. They come in a little carrying case that you can shove in your purse for a night on the town (or even a food party). When your gorgeous Mossino heels start to make your feet ache, you can easily switch them out for these alligator print flats! Seriously wish I had these in college!

Comment Challenge: What are your thoughts on fleece-lined tights? How are you braving the cold this winter?
