Tapas at Coppa Pt. II

coppa tapas boston

In case you missed my past post on Coppa, it's is an adorable little Italian restaurant in the South End with a great tapas (small dishes) and wine menu.

Above you can see what is probably my favorite dish they have: Fluke Carpaccio. This dish consists of local fluke crudo (raw), cracked black pepper-lemon curd, and almond pesto - AKA amazing flavors, texture, and extremely fresh ingredients. It's not too bad to look at, either.

The Polpette is a hearty plate of meatballs, tomato, and parmigiano cheese. Can't go wrong there.

I ordered the Nero di Seppia Capelli d'Angelo, or squid ink angel hair pasta, cockles (the tiny clam look-a-likes), oregano, and lemon zest. It was a great, clean dish that was so healthy and fresh.

Gotta love those brownstone views of the South End!

Firmoo Glasses Giveaway

Firmoo Glasses Giveaway

Hi all! Some of you may remember my previous post gushing about Firmoo glasses. I'm REALLY excited to announce that Firmoo has graciously offered to let me host a giveaway of a completely free pair of prescription glasses to one lucky winner!

Firmoo Glasses Giveaway

That's right, you can win a pair of brand-new glasses complete with your prescription, frames, and standard 1.50 index single vision lenses. No big deal.

Firmoo Glasses Giveaway

This is an important subject to me, because I absolutely have to wear glasses to see far. If I'm driving, or in a meeting, they're crucial. It's also nice to be able to look stylish while being able to see, which is why I can appreciate the variety that Firmoo offers (click to take a look at their frame selection). They seriously have every color, pattern and shape of glasses you can think of.

These are my most recent pair of Firmoo glasses. I picked them for the subtle inside pop of color (my fave color - a mix of blue and purple).

The only mandatory section of the giveaway is to leave a comment with a link to your favorite pair of glasses from Firmoo's site. The other options will get you even more entries and chances to win!

Don't forget to enter the giveaway below, and good luck to everyone!

Desigual & Rocksbox: Summer Edition

Desigual Fashion

Many of you may remember my springtime post highlighting Desigual. This super fun Barcelona brand is all about bright colors and unabashed patterns. I was so excited to be able to try out their summer collection!

Desigual Fashion

From its bold pattern to the lace detail, this dress reminds me of a free-spirited peacock. And what better time than summer to show off your colors?

Behind-the-scenes scoop: It was in the high 90's and extremely humid the day of this shoot, and I was so glad I was in this light, flowy dress! I can definitely see why a brand from Barcelona would create such a fluid design.

I paired the dress with these great silver pieces c/o Rocksbox! The barred cuff is by Slate, and the Avery Necklace is by Perry Street.

This month's Rocksbox also included these Alex Silver Earrings in slate by Kendra Scott. I forgot to wear them in the shoot (I blame the high temps and humidity fogging up my brain), but I loved sporting these pieces as well.

Audubon Boston

audubon boston

New American has got to be one of my favorite cuisines, and Audubon Boston does it very well. This genre takes traditional dishes and puts a fun, delicious spin on them to bring them to life.

Taking advantage of their back patio while it's still summer - I love the bamboo view! The only thing that stinks about this is that when the wind blows, little bamboo leaves go flying about. Personally I think it's a fair trade-off for the ambiance that the bamboo provides.

Right off the bat, I'm happy with the menu because they have this cute "Pickled Garden," filled with pickled veggies. I'm a huge fan of pickled veggies - they're scrumptious AND healthy!

Next, we ordered the Mussels with red curry coconut broth and grilled baguette. I have mixed feelings about this plate because while the flavor is great, it's a tad too spicy for my taste. Some bites actually cause you to start coughing a bit! But for the spice lovers, this will be your favorite.

I ordered the 8 oz Burger with avocado and carmelized onions - YUM! Everything was extremely fresh and tasty. The only drawback here was that the brioche bun was a bit smaller than the patty itself.

Nick ordered the Statler Chicken, with blistered long beans, burnt orange gravy, toasted focaccia, and roasted tomato jam. Yes, it was as good as it looks. It's tough to find good chicken - that is, one that isn't too dry, or under-flavored. I rarely order it at restaurants for this reason, but the chicken plate at Audubon did impress me with it's juicy flavors.

From the bamboo, to its stone tables and brownstone views, Audubon offers its patrons a rustic experience with really exceptional dishes. We've gotten the same waiter (tall guy with a beard) every time we've visited, and not only does he provide us with great customer service, but he's honestly hilarious! To me, these are the ingredients for a great restaurant experience. Check out other New American restaurants!

Tip Tap Room for Brunch

I had a lovely visitor over labor day weekend, and I took her to see the Boston sights! We took a stroll down Newbury Street, through the Public Garden and Boston Common, and wove our way through Beacon Hill until we reached the Tip Tap Room for some scrumptious brunch before kayaking down the Charles River.

We both got the lobster scramble, which was amazing and super fresh. I love how they give you a generous serving of leafy greens on the side for a healthy start to the day! The seasoning on the potatoes is a great touch. Best of all, there are plenty of seats inside which eliminates the usual long lines that accompany a good brunch.

Nick got the turkey burger - Apparently it was the best turkey burger he's ever had due to it being packed with flavor and topped with the sweet addition of cranberries. At first the thought of cranberries sound odd on a burger, but when it's a turkey burger it actually makes a lot of sense!

With full bellies, we were able to properly tackle the Charles on our kayak!
