Travel Guide: Weekend in San Diego

San Diego is known for sunny beaches, great food and plenty of fun summery things to do. We took a weekend trip down for a friend's bachelorette and fit a lot into a few days! Read on to see the fun activities and delicious restaurants we experienced during our stay.

Travel Guide: Weekend in San Diego

San Diego Air Bnb

Allow me to introduce you to the cutest Air Bnb in San Diego. That ladder chalkboard was filled with ideas of where to go and what to do, and you gotta love a good spiral staircase.

The living room and kitchen were super roomy, enough for everyone to hang out and get ready in.

The upstairs bathroom was my favorite. These cool mirrors and a skylight shower made it really fun.

San Diego Activities

Jet Skiing

Travel-Guide-Weekend-San-Diego

What better place to try jet skiing for the first time? This was even more fun than I imagined and I totally felt like James Bond. They go pretty fast and jump when you hit a wave. There's a ton of jet ski rental spots around Mission Bay, and we were able to lounge on the harbor shore for a bit before hopping on. The harbor's a nice place to try it out nice since it's not as choppy as the ocean waves would be.

Hit the Beach

Ocean Beach is great - it's a huge, sprawling beach with plenty of room & is even dog friendly! We circled a few times for parking but it didn't take too long to find a spot, especially considering it was in the middle of a Saturday afternoon. Fun fact: it shares a name with San Francisco's main beach, except there's a lot more sunny weather at this one.

Shopping

Loved the swinging chairs and open feel of this boutique.

Seaport Village

Seaport Village is a cute area right on the ocean. It's walking distance from Puesta Restaurant (read on for deets), so it's the perfect way to walk off those tacos. Here you can find tons of little boutiques, a view of the Pacific, and a carousel - which of course we rode because why not!

Get Your Game On

I love games, so clearly was super excited for Punch Bowl Social! It's a huge venue filled with everything from bowling to shuffleboard to arcade games. They have a restaurant inside too, so it's a great place to chow down and have some fun.

Gaslamp District

A lot of people go to the Gaslamp district for nightlife. If you like clubs then Onmia is probably a good place to start - it has multiple floors and a rooftop with stringed lights and a gif photobooth.

Puesta

Puesta is a big, open venue with fun murals and delicious tacos & margaritas. They're so good I couldn't snap a pic quick enough! We also got a fun fruit tower which reminded me of jenga (see below).

Ironside Seafood Restaurant

If you like seafood, Ironside in Little Italy is a must-try. The interior is really cool and they have a unique menu which includes chowder fries and deconstructed desserts.

Fruit Craft & Distillery

Travel-Guide-Weekend-San-Diego

Fruit Craft & Distillery is a modern space with great bites and really interesting wines which are made from distilling various fruits (other than grapes)! We tried pineapple, cranberry, pomegranate, cherry, and guava. They offer various flights so you can try a few and see what you like which is fun.

Herb & Wood is such a stunning restaurant, and the service and food/drinks still manage to live up to the ambiance.

We got a cool cocktail at this gin bar that actually changes color from sky blue to purple!

Waypoint Public

When Cocoa Krispy french toast is on the menu, you order it!

Donuts

We had these epic donuts for breakfast one morning and I didn't mind it one bit! There are a ton of great donut spots in SD, including Holy Matcha and Donut Bar.

From jet skiing to beach days and beautiful restaurants, San Diego has it all and is perfect for a weekend getaway!
