We got into Chicago right around dinner time. Being in Chicago, I just had to try their legendary deep dish pizza. Everyone suggested Lou Malnati’s Pizzeria, which luckily was just a few blocks from our hotel on the main street (which bore a shocking resemblance to Market Street)! The whole time I thought people were saying “Illuminati’s,” but they were not.
I was craving plain cheese pizza, so that’s what I got. Even this was noteworthy and delicious.
Each ingredient was fresh and it’s own world of flavor. Thick layers of cheese and rich tomato sauce melted into the spongy crust.
Some say “real” Chicago deep dish must have sausages in it (even Lou Malnati’s menu agrees). That night I was not in the mood for such a heavy pizza, but I plan on going back one day and trying the local favorite.
Chicago’s nightlife was energized and bright. I couldn’t wait to see what the next day would bring.
