Earlier this month we traveled down to Arrington, Virginia for Alexa & Michael’s wedding. Having seen snippets of the wedding preparations, and never having been as far south as Virginia on the East Coast before, I was super excited for the visit and to see their amazing wedding!
The Ceremony
The ceremony took place on a gorgeous hilltop on a warm summer day. The forecast threatened chance showers, but the weather was pleasant and didn’t pour down for the wedding, thank goodness.
The procession came through this gorgeous, rustic doorway which was actually built by someone in the family. Too adorable!

The Reception
The reception was almost too adorable for words, so brace yourself!
The wedding had the cutest theme: Herbs! Each guest was given a bottle of Rosemary simple syrup along with some ideas of how to use it: In a cocktail, soda, etc.
The bride and groom each had a signature cocktail to choose from at the bar. Alexa’s drink was the Watermelon Mintrimony, with tequila, watermelon, cucmber, lime, and mint simple syrup. It was sweet and the delicious watermelon flavor completely masked the tequila flavor!
Michael’s drink was called the Mint To Be (too cute, I know!). It consisted of bourbon, ginger beer, and mint simple syrup. It was tasty in a more rustic sort of way.
The charming details continued as we reached the table settings – they’re garden markers! We were seated at the Thyme Table, which had a pot of thyme we could eat with our meals!

Enjoying my cocktail!
Killing time before dinner, wandering around the gorgeous grounds!
Cornhole is so fun. We even learned a trick: throw it like a frisbee!
The Dinner
Even the butter was darling.
I ordered the Rosemary Lamb, which came with plenty of veggies. It was so delicious and flavorful! It inspired me to cook with Rosemary more often.
Cutting of the cake!
Wedding dancefloor = heels off, bottles everywhere.
At the end of the reception, the newlyweds rode off in their own personal Oak Ridge trolley!
The send off! This was such a fun wedding. It makes me excited for another upcoming wedding in a couple weeks back in California!
