As many of you know, we took a trip to NYC for the long Memorial Day weekend, and it was the best decision ever! Sometimes you just need a trip, even for a couple of days, to clear your head and have some fun. On Saturday we visited the Met Museum on the Upper East Side, then left to grab some lunch.

It was 90 degrees so we went to the first place we saw, which turned out to have a very tourist trap vibe, and so we escaped to find a better venue. Trusty Yelp led us to Beyoglu, an absolute gem of a restaurant, where we dined on fantastically fresh and scrumptious Turish faire!
Just the tabletop tiling alone made for a great dining experience, but Beyoglu really hit it out of the park when it came to the dishes and helpful, patient service.
This is probably the best dolma I’ve ever had – super fresh grape leaves wrapped around amazingly spiced rice. I wish I could have this every day!
Here’s another plate I could nosh on indefinitely – the crisp Shepard Salad, with chopped tomatoes, cucumbers, onions and peppers, and lemon vinaigrette. This is such a refreshing and healthy treat after walking all day in the blistering heat!
Yelp told us to order this Mezze Platter, and we were glad we listened. With freshly-made hummus, spinach and onions, baba ganoush, yogurt and other great dipping selections, we were happy campers by the end of the meal. The bread is large and fluffy, and I got gluten free falafels to soak up the spiced goodness! This meal gave us the fuel to adventure through Central Park and lasted us through dinner in the Village that night – stay tuned for more NYC adventures!
