Happy fourth of July weekend! We’re traveling to Portland, Maine for the weekend to explore some lighthouses and seafood, hope you’re all having fun too!
One of my favorite trends this season are cut-out dresses. The cut-outs really put a fun, unique spin on the typical summer dresses, like this floral number from Posh Human (get 25% off with code ChowDown)! See similar cut out styles here, here, and here. I love how you can barely tell from the front that this dress has cut-outs, but when you turn to the side they magically appear! Read on to see my simple tips for styling this dress from day to night!
A Daytime Look:
For a daytime look – ready for everything from the beach, to shopping or a picnic, I paired this cut out dress with the following:
- My favorite new Ray-Ban sunnies from our recent NYC trip
- A big Gap tote bag, filled with sunscreen, a light jacket, a good book and some snacks
- My trusty super comfy Bearpaw sandals
Transition to Night:
To transition the dress to night, I swap out the following items:
- Trade the big beach bag for a small gold clutch
- Trade the Bearpaw sandals for neutral lace up heels (pictured are c/o Posh Human, find similar pairs here, here, and here.)
- Add a light lace jacket (similar here and here.

There you have it – A simple swap of shoes, bag, and jacket makes for the perfect transition from day to night! Be sure to check out Posh Human and use code ChowDown for 25% off your entire order!
