When in Rome! Portland is known as a foodie town, and Maine is known for it’s lobsters, so you know you’ll find the best of the best crustaceans in Portland, Maine! A friend recommended that we visit Portland Lobster Company during our stay in this New England coastal city, and we were glad we did!
Set right on the water in Old Port, Portland Lobster Company offers everything from live music, to outdoor seating (there’s no better way to soak up that vitamin D), and of course plenty of lobster!
We also stopped by Maine Squeeze Smoothie & Juice Cafe before dinner, which is another must-try in Old Port!

Love how their beepers are even shaped like lobsters! The protocol here is to put in your order first, then come back to the hostess and let her know you’ve done so. Next, you can wait and people watch until your table is ready. When your lobster beeper goes off, your food is ready for pickup to bring back to your table!
So fresh and delicious! This isn’t the biggest lobster they have by far, by the way. I got a smaller one since we had just gone to DiMillo’s for another form of lobster about an hour and a half prior. We made sure to fit in as many foodie adventures as possible before our train that night!

Overall, Portland Lobster Co gets a major thumbs up. The staff were all super friendly, the outdoor patio was covered so we didn’t get a sunburn, and the food was perfect. It did take a bit longer than we expected to arrive, but we were there on 4th of July weekend which is one of their busiest times of the year, so it’s understandable! It’s definitely on our must-visit list for the next time we’re in town.
Be sure to check out our tapas feast in Old Port’s Central Provisions, as well as our adventure to Maine’s oldest lighthouse (over 200 years) at the beautiful Cape Elizabeth!
