I’ll admit I didn’t know much about St. Lucia when I arrived. All I needed to know was that (A) it was a tropical island, and (B) we would be staying at the all-inclusive, adults only Calabash Cove Resort and Spa. St. Lucia all inclusive vacation packages are amazing because you can’t really prepare for how beautiful the island is, from its aqua waters, to the warm Carribean Sea, to lush palm trees and stunning mountains (known as pitons). We stayed here for 5 days, which was just long enough to soak in the tropical paradise and really got a feel for life in the Carribean. Read more about this St. Lucia luxury hotel below!
Getting to St. Lucia
St. Lucia is a Carribean island off the coast of Venezuela, South America. It’s an independent country whose main languages are English and French Creole.
The flight to St. Lucia is an easy 4.5 hour flight from JFK. There are no direct flights from Boston, but it’s a super quick flight (30-45 min) from Logan to JFK. Once you land on the island, it’s a little over an hour taxi ride from the airport to Calabash Cove, or an 11 minute helicopter ride for my yolo friends. Soaring above the clouds in a chopper has always been on my bucket list, and my travel buddy Caroline surprised me at the airport with a lift to our resort! I’m so grateful to have gotten an incredible bird’s eye view of the 2 pitons (mountains) St. Lucia is so famous for.
St. Lucia Luxury Hotel: Calabash Cove
Arriving at Calabash Cove, you’re immediately met with this stunning view of their welcome area & restaurant overlooking the Carribean Sea. It’s like walking straight into a postcard, setting the tone for the gorgeous views and tropical lifestyle that you’ll experience during your stay here. There are only 26 rooms, each in individual suites along the property, so it’s quiet, secluded, and peaceful. St. Lucia adults only resorts are perfect for honeymooners and babymooners, which we met a lot of here.
This was one of my favorite scenes on the property – along the path between the suites and the main lobby / restaurant / pool area. The juxtaposition of the pink petals against the green palms, with the beach to your left, was so serene.
Waters Edge Cottage
We stayed in one of the Waters Edge Cottages, which came with its own pool, hammock, and an outdoor shower!
This was our private pool overlooking the beach & Carribean Sea. It doesn’t get more relaxing than this! Please note I am actually painting my toenails in this shot because they really needed it.
Nothing like reading and lounging on a hammock with this view!
Housekeeping makes the cutest towel animals, and the beds have mosquito netting surrounding them. I would also suggest to bring Deet with you to keep the tropical mosquitoes at bay. Our bedroom also had great air conditioning which was key in the tropical weather.
In-room bathtub in case you needed more ways to relax here!
This was our living room area, great for lounging.
We spent a good amount of time relaxing on this patio and by our pool. I could stare at those views for hours. I definitely watched the ships on the horizon at night and pretended they were from Pirates of the Carribean.
The Private Beach
Follow this short path down to the beach for more water fun!
You can get even more views from the dock on Calabash Cove’s private beach.
To the right, you have the resort and calm waters lapping at the shore.
To the left you have sights of the land and sea as far as the eye can see.
Calabash Cove offers free kayaks, surfboards and snorkel gear for their guests to bring out right from their private beach. The water here is warm and calm, so it’s easy for the water-loving novice like myself to feel safe here. There are little harmless fish that swim right up to shore which I’ve never experienced before!
How gorgeous is that water? P.S. I’m wearing this top because it’s super cute, but also to protect myself from the tropical sun. Due to the St. Lucia location in the Carribean, the sun here is much stronger than we’re used to in the states, so be careful to reapply your sunscreen and cover up when possible!
Rinse off and get ready for an epic St. Lucia sunset!
As in Tulum, we naturally went to bed & woke up early here – probably a combination of being out in the sun and turning down once the sun sets. I love how my circadian rhythm resets on vacation and I try to keep it going as long as I can once I get back. St. Lucia is in Eastern time so there’s no jet lag for those coming from the East Coast.
The Food
Then you get to wake up to the most incredible breakfast views – now this truly feels like a St. Lucia luxury hotel!
There are over 50 types of mangoes on the island and they’re really delicious, so be sure to try those during your stay!
The chicken roti was my favorite dish here. Once I discovered it I did not order anything else! The chutney on top is sweet and the curry is packed with flavor. Plus, it comes with a healthy salad on the side.
Main Infiniti Pool
Aside from your personal suite pools, Calabash Cove has a large, breathtaking infiniti pool open to all guests which overlooks the Carribean Sea. It’s as clear as water why this is one of the top resorts in St. Lucia!
Calabash Cove even has a swim-up bar which was another item checked off of my bucket list! I love the water, so there’s something really fun about sitting in the pool and eating your meal without having to get out. All inclusive hotels in St. Lucia are amazing because you don’t have to pay for any food once you get there, and you get to just sit back and enjoy paradise.
These cabanas by the pool are comfy, have great views, and are a good way to enjoy the climate while escaping the sun for a bit.
Staying at a St. Lucia luxury hotel is an experience I will never forget. Carribean spa resorts are the epitome of paradise, from the private pool & cottages, to the main infiniti pool, to the beach itself. We swam in the ocean, chatted with locals, and got to unplug in tropical style.
