Best Food in Sligo, Ireland
Hooked
This award-winning, insta-worthy, artisan & locally sourced restaurant sits right on the river and goes all out in its decorations and service alike! Hooked really has a cute, modern-yet-rustic aesthetic. There’s even a full boat hanging upside-down on the ceiling! Head to my Instagram story highlights to see the full walk-through videos! Note these were the decorations around the holidays.
Our first night in Sligo, we started out with locally sourced, delicious pork belly and tasty brews from Hooked – and we WERE hooked!
Even their plates are cute! And yes, every dish was even better than it looks.
Our waiter was so friendly, and he came back from the kitchen with this epic list of places to see during our trip! Have you been to any of these?
Hargadon Bros (Hargadon’s)
This Michelin-starred pub & restaurant was so good we ate there multiple times. They use only fresh, responsibly-sourced, sustainable, quality ingredients and it shows. Their menu even names the patches, farms, and butchers where they source their ingredients from, and their seafood is delivered straight “from shore to door” It has a very old school and cozy atmosphere inside.
Anderson’s Grill & Bar
Nestled right along the river & adorned with stringed lights, we had great Guinness, wings, and conversation here!
Sweet Beat Sligo
This plant-based, colorfully painted cafe is also on the river, still has fresh baked goods at night and they make a mean hot chocolate complete with chocolate flakes!
Le Fournil Bakery
We didn’t have time to try this bakery, but it looked so cute outside! I’d love to pop in and try it some time.
Jalan Jalan
We didn’t have time to stop into this Asian fusion spot, but it’s high on my list for next time – it was always packed and filled with beautiful decorations!
Your Kitchen
Our rental townhouse was a short walk to town & the grocery store, and had a great kitchen! So we made some delicious at-home meals too!
You don’t always know what to expect when adventuring to a new country or town, but one thing’s for certain: We were blown away by the incredible dishes and hospitality we had in Sligo and I can’t recommend it enough here!
I hope you had fun on your virtual food tour! If you liked this post, be sure to check out my other Ireland posts below:
